Day5 vs Tochiozan (Tech-Exam 2011 May)

I got today's tournament ticket.

I went to "Kokigikan".

The seat was very close to the ring(="dohyo")

The ring in ceremony of East "Makuuchi Rikishi"

I shouted "Baruto!!!

Our Baruto meets Tochiozan who is ranked West-Maegashira#2.

Tochiozan has low starter.

"Yobidashi"(=Ring name call")

Baruto vs Tochiozan

Left inside arm (="Hidari Shitate") was very effective.

Eve if Baruto cannot grip opponent belt, Baruto can lift up the opponent up and rush forward.

This style "hidari shitate"(=left inside arm) style (="migi Yostu") should be emphasized.

Today's "Haridashi"(=start with hand chopping) did not work.

And his waist position was high...

His trunk was completely standing upright.

Pushing way was not effective.

I think his elbow postion was wide while pushing.

That was why Tochiozan dived inside and gripped belt.

Baruto scarcely lost this bout.

But our Baruto showed big scale sumo in a pinch.

Arm lock and neck throwing with big power saved his pinch.......

5 wins but if he continues this starting,I think Baruto can not reach for the emperor's cup.

Anyway our Baruto fans and supporters believe Baruto shapes his starting.

Tochiozan is 4-2.

Asyou know,Tochiozan is developing his sumo basho by basho.

His start position is very low and his rushing is very sharp.

Past is 9 wins' baruto only 1 win's Tchiozan.

This bout was Baruto's fastest one in this tournament.

Easy bout. His starting was very excellent.

Baruto succeeded in stoppig Tochiozan's sharp start.

Grand Sumo Tournament Kugatsu-basho DAY8 ("NAKA-BI"=mid day)

Baruto takes on Sekiwake Tochiozan (6-1).

Tochiozan this tournament starts very quickly and rushes with lower position.

Baruto showed "Haridashi"(=slap opponent cheek at start) and stopped Tochiozan rushing.

And got right outside grip!!

Baruto made his body lower with his head lower (="Atama wo tukeru) and also "Ottuke"(=tighten arms and push opponent armpit).

Tochiozan could not keep his body lower and Baruto pushed Tochis' breast easily.

Finally Baruto aggressively pushed Tochi after ring out ("Dame-dashi).

These days Baruto showed this kind of aggressive manner.

Baruto is considered as a vey gentle and polite wrestler than others.

So some Japanese sumo fans are surprised ,others think Baruto's this change is menace Baruto feels Ozeki rank responsibility and his will to get Emperor's trophy.

I think Baruto is getting better for 2 days bouts.

Step work and body position were paid attention.

He is not a tricky type wrestler.

Baruto tried to push with both arms (="moroteduki").

But he could not push away and pulled back..

If Tochiozan has a rushing power,this pulling is a kind of mistake.

Baruto caught Tochozan and threw out of ring with "Sukuinage"

Not so bad but not so good.

I think Baruto should shape his starte stepping and pushing.

He is 188cm tall and 150kg weight.

His fighting style is a rusher.

Baruto strated with high waist position and loose arm position.

I have to say Baruto has not got his top form yet.

The point why Baruto won today was Tochiozan rushed with high waist position.

Rushing with lower waist position is very important.

Baruto won but he shook his head when he went out of ring.

Maybe because he know today's Sumo is not his own style.
