Day7 Baruto vs Kakuryu (hastu-Basho 2012 Jan)

大相撲 初場所 第7日目。両国国技館。
Grand Sumo Tournament Hastu-Bahso day7. 2012/1/14.

Baruto(6-0) has Sekiwake Kakuryu(5-0).
Kakuryu is Ozeki candidate.
If he marks 14-0 in this tournament,he can pass 33 wins.
In Kisenosato's 32 wins case,Kakuryu need appeal to overcome upper rankers.
Kakuryu this tournament has already fought against 2 ozekis.
He defeated Ozeki Harumafuji and was defeated by Kisenosato.
I think today Kakuryu make his fight meaninfull.

Total victory!!!

Baruto got right outside grip and its position was good.
Baruto rushed immediately.

Kakuryu tried to counter left "Sukui Nage" with his arm up (="Kaina wo Kaesu") to dis-power Baruto left power. But Kakuryu could not stop Baruto"s force.

7 straight iwns!

Baruto W(YORIKIRI)L Kakuryu

Day9 vs Kakuryu (Kyushu-Basho 2011 nov)

Grand Sumo Tournament Kyushu-Basho Day9.
大相撲 九州場所 第9日目。

Baruto has Sekiwake Kakuryu6-2
Kakuryu this tournament until day8 is as follows,
1st day- w yorikiri Aran
2nd day- w yorikiri Kyokutenho
3rd day- w oshidashi Gagamaru
4th day- w yorikiri Toyonoshima
5th day- w yorikiri Tochinoshin
6th day- l oshidashi Kisenosato
7th day- w hatakikomi Homasho
8th day- l uwatenage Kotoshogiku

Nihon Sumo Kyokai announced "Kakuryu need 14 wins for ozeki." in the beginning of this tournament.

So hehas already failed the exam.
But to be an Ozeki candidate, hecan not lose any more.

Baruto showed a powerful sumo yesterday against Aran.
Tsuridashi is Baruto's extreme submission.

Baruto sumoed with carefullness.
Baruto waited for the time Kauku's rushing.

I think only Baruto can do pull up with doble outside grip!!!!

I want Baruto to shape up tsuridashi skill more to be his special one.

Baruto W (TSURIDASHI) L Kakuryu sekiwake

6 wins 3 losses.

Day12 vs Kakuryu (Kugatsu-Basho 2011 Sep)

Kakuryu this tournament challenged ozeki promotion. Kakuryu had 22 wins in last 2 tournaments. If Kakuryu got 11 wins, Kakuryu promote to Ozkei. But he has already lost 6... I hope next ozkei candidate shoul not do this kind of starting "henka". Baruto lost target. Spectaculars in "Kokugikan" breath big sigh. Ozeki Baruto L(Uwatedashinage)w Kakuryu Sekiwake 8 wins 4 losts.

Day5 vs Kakuryu (Nagoya-Basho 2011 July)

Day2 vs Kakuryu (Tech-Exam 2011 May)

Ozeki BARUTO ○(YORIKIRI)× KAKURYU

2 wins.

Importan is just to win.
Baruto 2days showed a little bit upset sumo.
But I know his sumo is usually getting better with winning.

November 23, 2010

Day10 vs Kakuryu (Kyushu-Basho 2010 Nov)

Grand sumo Tournament Kyushu-Basho day10

Baruto meets Mongolian west sekiwake Kakuryu 5-4.
Baruto has already passed "Kachi-Koshi"line.
Passing the 8 wins is "Kyukin-Naoshi" in another words.
"Kyukin" means salary.
"Naoshi" means somehow promotion.
If Ozeki rankner lost over 8 and "Make-Koshi" ,the ozeki is called "Kadoban"in the next tournament.
"Kadoban" is in the edge of cliff.
If this ozeki lost next tournament,he will be down to sekiwake.
In the case of Baruto,he is continuing "Kachi-Koshi".
So this matter is not facing to Baruto.
I wrote too long...
1 loser until yesterday are Hakuho,Baruto,Kaio and "Hiramaku"(=under maegashira ranker) Toyonoshima.
To survive the championship,Baruto has to have much care of every bout.

Past result are 5 wins Kakuryu and 7 wins Baruto.
In this 6 tournaments, 2 wins Kakuryu and 3 wins Baruto.
Last 2 bouts were Kakuryu got 2 wins.
2010Sep: Kakuryu won by sotogake.(read my post)
2010May:Kakuryu won by oshitaoshi(read my post)

I want to emphasize Kakuryu is not easy opponent.

Kakuryu shifted his body left at start(="Tachiai").
Baruto (I guess) had expected Kakuryu's this trick motion.

Baruto gripped his left outside grip tightly.
Smaller Kakuryu did not do anything under this position.
Baruto threw Uwatenage with downwards force!!!!

Perfect win!!!

Ozeki Baruto ○(UWATENAGE)× Kakuryu Sekiwake

9 wins 1 lose.

Day10
Hakuho, Kaio and Toyonoshima won.
So 4 sumotoris are standing on 1 lose.

Baruto come on!
This Hakuho is not unbeatable Yokozuna.
This is the chance!

Day11 vs Kakuryu (Kugatsu-Basho 2010 Sep)

GRAND SUMO TOURNAMENT KUGATSU-BASHO DAY11

Baruto takes on Komusubi Kakuryu(7-4).
Kakuryu is from Mongol and this is his second time Komusubi ("Kaeri-Komusubi").
Kakuryu means Kaku(鶴)is crane and Ryu(竜) is dragon.
Baruto lost last time in May tournament,he chose pushing start to Kakuryu.(click to vdeo)

Baruto started with a little bit higher waist position and did not push.
Baruto took both outside grip but smaller Kakuryu was very attached to Baruto.
The body size gap this time went against Baruto.
Baruto tried to lift Kakuryu but his waist position was very high and it gave him unstabile.
Kakuryu only did "Sotogake"....

I think this tournament Baruto chose start style push or grip for opponent style.
Smaller opponent case, he chose grip.
Big target opponent case, he schose push.

Very simple tactic, I think.

When Baruto got 14 wins at 2010May Gogatsu-Basho tournament,
Baruto did not hesitate to push.

Ozeki BARUTO ×(SOTOGAKE)○ KAKURYU Komusubi
8 wins 3 loses.

Never give up ,Baruto!

Day8 vs Kakuryu (Gogatsu-Basho 2010 May)

Grand Sumo Tournament Gogatsu-Basho Day8

Baruto meets Maegashira #3 Kakuryu .
Kakuryu means "Crane Dragon"
He is from Mongol. He has scored 2 wins 5 loses.
I think Kakuryu looked not energetic in this tournament.

Now he stays at Maegashira but has already experienced Sekiwake rank in the past.
2010Jan :Baruto won .(click to movie)
2010Mar:Baruto won but was slightly defeated.(click to movie)
Kakuryu is not a easy opponent.

u---m!
Kakuryu chose a pushing start.
I think this gave Baruto a big surprise.
Baruto seemed to be upset.
Kakuryu pulled Baruto's arm (="hikikomi")and threw with lever power(="tottari").
Baruto wass completely unbalanced.

Ozeki BARUTO ×(OSHITAOSHI)○ KAKURYU Maegashira#3

7 wins 1 lose.

Come on! Baruto!

Day7 vs Kakuryu (Haru-Basho 2010 Mar)

Spring Grand Sumo Tournament Day7
Our Baruto meets Kakuryu.
Kakuryu is from Mongol and his "Shiko Na"(=ring name) means Crane Dragon.
Crane is a symbol of wellness and happiness.
Dragon is a symbol of promotion in Japan.
Kakuryu is now ranked Maegashira #4
We can not underestimate him.
Very bad start.
His eyes were closed and very high position.
He looled hesitating to push or grip.

I think his pushing style in this tournamnet has bee remarkable.
But sometimes opponent had changed at starting.
So Baruto could not have confidence in his starting.

Baruto lost his target and went straight to the edge of ring.
Most of spectaculars except Baruto thought it was the end.
He stopped and turned around quickly.
He somehow managed to deal with Kakuryu rushing power.
This quick recovering is evidence of daily training("=Keiko").

Baruto could grip belt and shifted Kakuryu to the edge.
Yorikiri win.

Miraculous win.

Sumo God still supported of Baruto ozeki promotion.

sekiwake BARUTO ○(YORIKIRI)× KAKURYU maegashira #1

7 wins.

I believe Baruto will be a great "Rikishi"(=wrestler) in a decade.
His sumo style is not fixed and his motion is not like sumo.
If you watch Hakuho step work, you may recognize it.
Even if Baruto promotes to ozeki,Baruto will run up against wall.

Win but I hope Baruto should learn much through today's starting and rushing step work.

Anyway Baruto still keeps no loose record which is tie to Hakuho,Harumafuji and Tokitenku.

Go,Baruto,go!

We hope all of readers give him cheers!

Day3 vs Kakuryu (Hatsu-Basho 2010 Jan)

This East Sekiwake vs West Komusubi bout is very impotant.
This bout's winner survive Emperor's cup race.

Baruto did not start with sharp step and Kakuryu pushed once.
But Baruto got left arm over belt and he could re-push.
After grasping right arm belt,he stepped forward with "Ottuke ".
Good win!

sekiwake BARUTO ○(YORIKIRI)× KAKURYU komusubi

Day6 vs Kakuryu (Kyusu-Basho 2009 Nov)

We have six grand sumo tournaments in a year.
  • Jan:Hatsu-Basho or Ichigatsu-Basho (Tokyo)
  • March:Haru-Basho or Sangatsu-Basho (Osaka)
  • May:Natsu-Basho or Gogatsu-Basho(Tokyo)
  • July:Nagoya-Basho or Shichigatsu-Basho (Nagoya)
  • Sep:Aki-Basho or Kugatsu-Basho (Tokyo)
  • Nov:Kyushu-Basho or Jyuichigatsu-Basho (Hakata)

Now Kyushu-basho is held at Fukuoka Kokusai Center
The capacity is 7000 seats.

But we can see many vacant seats through my video.

Do you know why?

I think the reason is only two wrestler (Hakuho and Asashoryu) is too strong.
We,sumo fans , want a new hero!

Do you know who will be a new hero?

No doubt it is our BARUTO.

If Baruto shows big scale bout like today, he must be more popular.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Today's opponent sekiwake Kakuryu is from mongol.
He has not express his sumo style yet and score until yesterday is 2 wins 3 losts.

****clock to YouTube HQ

Baruto caredKakuryu's SOTOGAKE and pulled up fully and made Kakuryu out of ring(=dohyo).

Day14 vs Kakuryu (Kugatsu-Basho 2009 Sep)

Kakuryu is ranked Maegashira #3.
He is from Mongol , 24 years old and his stable (="Heya") Izutsu.
He has already marked 9 wins with defeating 2 ozeki.

BARUTO VS KAKURYU (Click to YouTube HD ver.)

Baruto chose the starting attempting to grab belt and he got his way he wanted.
Baruto thought he got enough position to pull up Kakuryu.
But it looked a tittle bit forcible because Baruto's waist position was high.
Baruto should pull up with making his waist position lower not to be re-attacked.
Kakuryu used outside leg trip and Baurto lost his balance completely.
Kakuryu caught Baruto's off guard.
Overconfidence is our greatest enemy.
Please keep in mind,Baruto.

komusubi BARUTO ×(SOTOGAKE)○ KAKURYU maegashira #3

11wins 3 loses.

Sekiwake Kotoshogiku got 8 over loses today .
It means one sekiwake position will be vacant.
So it is absolutely certain Baruto will be sekiwake next tournament.

Tomorrow is final day (="SENSHURAKU)

The meaning of one win between 11 wins and 12 wins are big.
As I wrote before, total wins through 3 tournaments at "SANYAKU"(=upper than Komusubi)
is a point of promoting Ozeki.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Harumafuji vs Kaio (Click to YouTube HD ver.)
5ozekis came up to our expectation.

Hakuho vs Kotooshu (Click to YouTube HD ver.)

Asashoryu vs Kotomitsuki (Click to YouTube HD ver.)

At last, Asasoryu 0 loser vs Hakuho 1 loser at final day.

Which one will get emperor's cup?

Day3 vs Kakuryu (Gogatsu-Basho 2009 May)

Kakuryu is a new born Komusubi.
He is mongolian with 185 cm tall, 138 kg.

Congratulation !!! Kaido!!!

You think too much about how to fight until yesterday.
As you know, Sumo is very simple sports.

You have long legs ,,,,but you should make your body lower with knee benting.
You have long arms,,,but you should make your arms tightly attaching to your bodyside.
You have huge body sizw,,,,but you should not forget rush forward not to wait for opponent rushing.

Today you sumo very smartly.

Today is the day you start a Gogatsu-Basho with new idea.

sekiwake BARUTO ○(OSHIDASHI)× KAKURYU komusubi

  1win 2 losses.

March 25, 2009

Day11 vs kakuryu (Haru-Basho 2009 March)

Kakuryu is one of Mongolian wrestlers.
His name Kaku = Crane (bird)
Ryu= Dragon,same as asashou-ryu's ryu.
I thought Baruto liked this type wrestler which was small size body.

Kakuryu faked on the start.
He changed his position and pulled Baruto's arm.
Baruto was unbalanced completely.

This bout is symbolic of Baruto this tournament.
Baruto lost his start style like last tournament.

sekiwake BARUTO×(YORITAOSHI)○ KAKURYU mmaegashira #1

If Baruto marks one more losses,he lost his sekiwake position.

BARUTO,please hear our voice!
You have nothing to loose even if you lost your position.
Because You are Sumo wrestler to pursuit Sumo-do.

The important thing is you express yourself through Sumo.

September 30, 2008

Day15 vs Kakuryu (Kugatu-Basho 2008 Sep)

If Baruto wins today,he will be upper ranker SEKIWAKE in the next tournament.
If he losses today,he will lost KOMUSUBI position in the next tournament.
There are big differences between 7wins 8losses(=MAKEKOSHI)  and 8wins 7losses(=KACHIKOSHI) .

They fought three times!
First was judged Kakuryu's step out and Baruto's step out timing was same.
So they did TORINAOSHI(=re-fight)
Second was judged Baruto did not touch ground enough at staring.
Third was Baruto used hid body size enough.

First fight Baurto should shift hs waist positon lower not to step out his left leg.
I think Baruto thought Kakuryu would be injured if he continued to rash.
This is baruto's kind scene maybe because he has known sadness of injured time.
I want to emphasize Baruto is a very strong with hearty and kind finghter.

komusubi BARUTO ○(TSURIDASHI)× KAKURYU maegashira#5

Total score of this turnament is
8wins 7losses!!!!

Great job,BARUTO!!!

I think,YOU will be SEKIWAKE next time!

May 25, 2008

Day15 vs Kakuryu(Gogatu-Basho 2008)

Kakuryu positions Maegashira2. He won 5 only until yesterday.
Baruto positions Maegashira1. He won 4 until yesterday.

They both felt the wall in front of them,I guess.

Baruto,,I know how you feel now.
Please train yourself through everyday efforts.
You can go up more if you change your mind like KOTOOUSHU who got first prize in this tournament.

BARUTO○(YORIKIRI)×KAKURYU

Final result of BARUTO is 5won and 10losses.
