Day11 vs Kakuryu (Kugatsu-Basho 2010 Sep)

GRAND SUMO TOURNAMENT KUGATSU-BASHO DAY11

Baruto takes on Komusubi Kakuryu(7-4).
Kakuryu is from Mongol and this is his second time Komusubi ("Kaeri-Komusubi").
Kakuryu means Kaku(鶴)is crane and Ryu(竜) is dragon.
Baruto lost last time in May tournament,he chose pushing start to Kakuryu.(click to vdeo)

Baruto started with a little bit higher waist position and did not push.
Baruto took both outside grip but smaller Kakuryu was very attached to Baruto.
The body size gap this time went against Baruto.
Baruto tried to lift Kakuryu but his waist position was very high and it gave him unstabile.
Kakuryu only did "Sotogake"....

I think this tournament Baruto chose start style push or grip for opponent style.
Smaller opponent case, he chose grip.
Big target opponent case, he schose push.

Very simple tactic, I think.

When Baruto got 14 wins at 2010May Gogatsu-Basho tournament,
Baruto did not hesitate to push.

Ozeki BARUTO ×(SOTOGAKE)○ KAKURYU Komusubi
8 wins 3 loses.

Never give up ,Baruto!

I think Baruto's knee is pretty bad this tournament so I'd be surprised if he got any more wins.

I do think so.
He can not flex his knee completely so his waist position is high and he can not push with efficient power.
