Baruto(9-0) fights against Sekiwake Toyonoshima(3-6).

Baruto has 12 wins 4 defeats record to Toyonoshima.
Baruto was defeated by Toyonoshima in las November tournament.

Baruto started in "Haridashi" and gripped right outside easily.
Baruto did not give Toyonoshima time to think and threw by right outside with locking Toyonoshima neck by left hand.
Baruto completely turned up Toyonoshima.

I think Baruto sumoes rythmically and automatically in this tournament.
10 straight wins  is same record as 2010 spring tournament one which Baruto made Ozeki promotion.

Grand Sumo Tournament Hatsu-Basho Day9,2012/1/15 Sunday.

Baruto(7-0) has Maegashira #3 Kitataiki(1-6).
Baruto records 4 wins o losses against Kitataiki.
Kitataiki means North(="kita") Big(="tai") Tree(="ki").
Kitataiki belongs to Kitanoumi stable.
Kitanoumi is former "Rijicho" of "Sumo Kyokai" and legend Yokozuna in 70's.
Anyway Kitataiki is not a tricky type.

Baruto started to grip belt,not pushing.
And got right outside grip easily.
Baruto could control Kitataiki movemnet and throw him completely.

Harumafuji has already decided this tournament title of Makuuchi division Champion.

But today our interest is ,,,,of course,
Baruto vs Hakuho.

Baruto has defeated Yokozuna Hakuho once.
And Yokozuna this tournament is not real.
Hakuho challenged straight 8 champion of thournament but his challenge was stopped by yesterdays lost by Harumafuji.

We think Baruto has chance to overcome Yokozuna's wall.

As you know, the condition of promotion to Ozeki is 33 wins in 3 tournaments.
So 11 wins and defeating Yokozuna give a good impression for promotion to Yokozuna.
Anyway Baruto tried to change his starting style(not to push) and grip right otuside.
I think to promote to Yokozuna ,to brash up this tactic is good.

Baruto meets Mongolian west sekiwake Kakuryu 5-4.

Baruto has already passed "Kachi-Koshi"line.

Passing the 8 wins is "Kyukin-Naoshi" in another words.

"Kyukin" means salary.

"Naoshi" means somehow promotion.

If Ozeki rankner lost over 8 and "Make-Koshi" ,the ozeki is called "Kadoban"in the next tournament.

"Kadoban" is in the edge of cliff.

If this ozeki lost next tournament,he will be down to sekiwake.

In the case of Baruto,he is continuing "Kachi-Koshi".

So this matter is not facing to Baruto.

1 loser until yesterday are Hakuho,Baruto,Kaio and "Hiramaku"(=under maegashira ranker) Toyonoshima.

To survive the championship,Baruto has to have much care of every bout.

Past result are 5 wins Kakuryu and 7 wins Baruto.

In this 6 tournaments, 2 wins Kakuryu and 3 wins Baruto.

Last 2 bouts were Kakuryu got 2 wins.

I want to emphasize Kakuryu is not easy opponent.

Kakuryu shifted his body left at start(="Tachiai").

Baruto (I guess) had expected Kakuryu's this trick motion.

Baruto gripped his left outside grip tightly.

Smaller Kakuryu did not do anything under this position.

Baruto threw Uwatenage with downwards force!!!!

Before Day 12,Both Kotomitsuki and Baruo had marked 9wins 2 loses.

This bout winner would be a surviver for Emperor's trophy.

Today's opponent Kotomitsuki .Kotomitsuki 4 wins Baruto only 1 win ,this is past result.
Baruto's last day opponent is a big wall.

Kotomitsuki is a Kadoban Ozeki (= last touranment he lost 8 over ,if he lost 8 over again in this tournament,he lost his Ozeki position) and he has already got 8 over wins.
It means this bout is 7 winsBaruto vs 8 wins Kotomistuki.

But he is not well because of catching cold before this tournament.

Day2 vs Yoshikaze(Hatsu-Basho 2009 Jan)

Today's opponent is Maegashira #2 ranker Yoshikaze.

Yoshikaze's gym is Oguruma-Beya which is same gym as Takekaze who fought with Baruto yesterday.
Oguruma-Beya's master is former Ozeki "KOTOKAZE" who fought during early 1980's.

Oguruma-Beya's Rikishi(=wrestler) has Kaze(=wind) in their names.

Yoshikaze means "Fair(=Yoshi) Wind(=Kaze)"



Baruto shook his neck after he won.
I know the reason.
I think he won but he lost,because this is not Baruto's way.
Baruto got right Uwate (=hand over) once but he was took off by Yoshikaze's waist shaking motion.
And Yoshikaze rushed.This was Yoshikaze's way.

Baruto knows his own Sumo style.
Japanese knows wins are not the only way in Sumo.

Baruto knows Japanese way of thinking,,I think.

Do you know the meanning of name of "kotoshu".

"koto" means Japanese harp and Sadokatake Beya (=gym) 's wrestler 

has a "koto" in head of his name.

For example,Koto-mituki,Koto-shogiku,,,,,

"oshu" means Europe in Japanese.

"Koto-oshu" means Harp from Europe.

Very beautiful name.

Bulgaria Ozeki vs Estonia Sekiwake.

This  was also the biggest two wrestler's match in Makunouchi  matches.

Koto-oshu was not vigor at all.

I think Baruto won because of Koto-oshu's self destruction.

Wakansato is Maegashira#2 ranker and he keeps good fights until today(3wins 1loss)



Wakanosato hold Baruto's belt and was enough situation to rush forward.
But Baruto hold Wakanosat's belt with his left hand.

Baruto used Wakanosto's ruhsing power to swing Wakanosato to outside!!!

Baruto's big body were like a wall against Wakanosto.

Toyonoshima is Sekiwake,a upper ranker.

He has a good skills.

The point is Tachiai(=beginning).

Baruto succeeded in Tachiai,he could grip Tonyonoshima's Mawashi(=belt).

Baruto could  throw Toyonoshima by his right arm.

Baruto is 198cm.

Toyonoshima is 171cm.

Body size is very matter when baruto grip other's belt.
