Hatsu-Basho(2009 Jan) Final Result

Day15 vs Harumafuji (Hatsu-Basho 2009 Jan)
Harumafuji is new born Ozeki.
He has changed his name from Ama to Harumafuji.
Past result was 4 wins Hatumafuji and 2 wins Baruto.
Both has already decided "KACHIKOSHI"=Over 8 wins.
To memorize this tournament as a good start of 2009 ,Baruto has to get victory today.
Every sumo fans are surprized with this bout.
Baruto lifted harumafuji 's left thigh by his right arm and also pulled Harumafuji's belt by his left arm.
Everybody re-noticed Baruto's power .
Baruto marked 9 wins 6 losses.
After 7 wins,Baruto lost his way.
But last 2 days victories lead Baruto to remember his style.

Today's opponent is Maegashira #2 Miyabiyama.
He has already marked over 8 losses.
Past result between Baruto and Miyabiya was 3 wins Baruto and 5 wins Miyabiyama.
Miyabiyama was Ozeki from 2000July to 2001 Sep.
He is 31 years old and 188cm tall.
"MIYABI" means elegance. "YAMA" means mountain.
Great win!

Baruto really concentrated on this bout!
If Baruto as usual pushed this way, he would take care of an opponent after he pushes away.

Baruto lost his Sumo style.

Day11 vs Asashoryu (Hatsu-Basho 2009 Jan)
The point of this bout is whether Baruto holdAsashoryu's belt or not.
In the start,Baruto shifted to right to hold Asa's belt by right arm outside.
This was Baruto's first time to hold Asa's belt.
But the position of holding lead to Baruto's loose.
This position is called "TATEMITSU"
It means far grip position.
Baruto coul not pull but he tried to pull and gradually Baruto's body go upright because of his grip position.
Baruto made himself bad situation.
Then Asshoryu rushed forward.
I hope Baruto do not shift.

Kotomituki decided to have off from today because of right ankle ligament injury.
So Hakuho won by opponent off.

Kotoshogiku is one of Ozeki candidates but he is not well in this tournament.
He scored 3 wins 7 losses.
Baruto looked lack of concentration.
Though he wins one more and gets 8 over wins(KACHI KOSHI) , he lost 3 after 7 wins.
Kotoshogiku cared Baruto's rush by shifting his body to left.
And Kotoshogiku pulled Baruto's right arm to in balance Baruto.
kotoshogiku knows Baruto well.

Day10 vs Goeido (Hatsu-Basho 2009 Jan)
Today's opponent is Maegashira #3 ranked Goeido.
Goeido was former Komusubi and he is very skillful.
I think Baruto's "Tachiai"(=start) was not well.
You can see his waist position was higher than one until yesterday.
I know yesterday's bout against Hakuho was Grand bout,so Baruto seems to be tired.
It was same reason that Hakuho was lost today against Harumafuji.
Baruto,do not think too much!

Day9 vs Hakuho (Hatsu-Basho 2009 Jan)
Today's final match is Yokozuna Hakuho vs Sekiwake Baruto.
Final match is called "MUSUBI no ICHIBAN" in Japanese.
All sumo fans concentrates on this MUSUBI no ICHIBAN from this morning.
Until yesterday,Hakuho marked 8 wins and Baruto marked 7 wins 1 loss.
Past fight result was Hakuho defeated Baruto 6 times but no losses.
Baruto is changing his sumo ability to fighting evenly against top wrestlers.
Yes,we know. Today is the day Baruto defeats Hakuho first time.
Oh SUMO mainly means grand sumo tournament.
But we call long and beautiful and power vs power sumo bout "Oh Sumo".
Today's "Musubi no ICHIBAN" was "Oh SUMO"!!!
Baruto made himself Yotsu style.
It was right arm outside left arm inside.
This was not a perfect Baruto's Yotsu style but Baruto could come to his desirable breast to breast position.
Yokozuna could not cope with Baruto easily in this position.

Day8 vs Chiyotaikai (Hatsu-Basho 2009 Jan)
Chiyotaikai is one of Ozeki and he has stayed Ozeki rank over 50 tournaments.
He is a pusher (Tuki-Sumo) .
He marked 6 wins already with good pushing style.
Past bout was 4 win's Baruto and 3 win's Chiyotaikai.
Baruto won by way of YORIKIRI in the past and lost by way of Hikiotoshi.
This bout is tipical Yotu-Sumo vs Tuki-Sumo.
If Baruto grasp Chiyotaikai's belt ,maybe he will win.
I think he re-understood his Yotu-Sumo(=fight with grasping belt) after yesterday's bout against Kotooshu.
Today's bout is really splendid with showing his style.
