Nihon Sumo Kyokai's board of directors was held at Ryogoku Kokugikan today.
Everyone knew they discussed Asashoryu's violet matter.
They let Asashoryu come to meeting to hear the fact.
Asashoryu came to Kokugikan around 11 am.
After about 2 hours hearing, Asashoryu announced his retirement to take resposibility of his scandal.
Asashoryu had decided his retirement before hearing.

There must not be two Yokozuna.
But 1 Yokozuna,1 Ozeki were retired.
This condition is a good chance for Yokozuna and Ozeki candidates.
It is kind of sad that Asashoryu remained unbeatable by Baruto.

Aminishiki is not.
I think Harumafuji is considered commonly first.
But I think Kotooshu is most close to Yokozuna.
Baruo has to step to Ozeki first.

I admire Japan and specifically sumo association for doing this. Here in US we have had many sportsmen convicted on various criminal charges - drugs, rape, dog fighting even. And in all cases the athlete was allowed to come back to the sport?? I support the view that professional sport has to hold up a higher standard.

According to Wikipedia to become a yokozuna, the de facto standard is that ozeki has to win two consecutive championships or an equivalent performance. Is it really realistic target for Kotooshu?
If everything goes well, Kaido should become ozeki soon. It feels even a bit unfair that he has to be sekiwake albeit he has beaten ozekies 11 times out of 13 last match.

Asa retirement matter needs analysis from lot of view.
Why Asa has to be retired?
because this scandal became big matter.
Mass media reported big cacle.
And polce started investigation.
Board of director's and Yokozuna shingi kai(=the committee by outside people and oppinion maker to Yokozuna affair) could not neglect this matter.
Asashoryu is very strong and has much fans among Japanese.
This endding is very sad.

I think the point is not only numbers of win.
When Harumafuji and Kotooshu promoted to Ozeki,they did really perfect style of their sumo.
most of sumo fans thought they were next Yokozuna.
But they got injured and they lost top form now.
I think they have a still candidate if they regain their sumo.
So you are right in a sense.
And I also think Baruto will be Yokozuna if he got his syle.I am Baruto fan.
Asa retired.
I think Kotooshu and harumafuji showed another side from next tournament.
Asa was a big wall for them.
But Hakuho is not so.
New battle for next Yokozuna has begun.

Asa's retirement is considered it was not only his fall.
A lot of sumo fans think Asa's master was because his master Takasago and board of directors could not manage Asa .
