It was learned today that Sekiwake Baruto married Elena Torekbova, a 26 year-old Russian girl from Vladivostok. The happy couple submitted their marriage application to the Ota Ward Office in Tokyo making it official. The two began dating in the summer of 2005 and met as a result of Elena's mother operating a Russian restaurant in Tokyo's Sumida district close to the Mihogaseki-beya, the stable from which Baruto formerly fought. The Estonian proposed to his gal just after the Aki basho last year.
Of his bride, Baruto stated, "She's so kind, and I love how she treats me with such importance. I'd like to have about 5 children with her. I'm going to do my best to reach the Ozeki rank for her." Before their marriage, the two had been living together near the Onoe stable facilities. Elena is currently taking Japanese classes at a nearby school. The happy couple have yet to set a date for a formal reception.
