Dear Chuchai-san : Why did Baruto-san stand up, at the start of the match, and speak to Kaoi-san? I've never seen that happen before.

Also, what determines precisely when the two opponents start any match? Is it simply the first one who makes a move, or is there some type of protocol to how a fight starts?

Forgive my ignorance, I haven't been following sumo for very long...

Many thanks! MM

Hi! MilazzoMan san

Thank you for posting comment!
Why Baruto stood up once was baruto missed the timing. At starting, both Rikishis have to take a timing. but this time was Baruto a little bit faster than Kaio.
I guess Baruto said to Kaio "sorry" or something.

At starting, same timing is very important.
they take their breath timing and both hands on the ground and start.
